In the method of diagnosing the severity of perinatal affection of the central nervous system (CNS) in premature newborns by determining the level neurospecific enolase (NSE) in the blood serum level, NSE is determined in venous blood serum concentration at the 3-7 day of life of premature newborns. Then with immune-ferment method neuron-specific enolase activity is determined by the level of its concentration in the samples, by the results of that, depending on body weight of premature newborn child perinatal CNS affection is diagnosed and the severity of affection is determined.
