The present utility model relates to the process of producing woven indigenous strips from bakong (Hanguana malayana) stems comprising the steps; harvesting good quality bakong (Hanguana malayana) plant growing at least 1 meter in height, cutting and separating the leaves from the stems leaving only the stems for utilization, stripping the stem by passing into a stripping device, air-drying the stripped stem, scouring, bleaching and dyeing the stripped stem, air-drying then weaving according to the desired weaving techniques. It further relates to the use of the woven bakong (Hanguana malayana) strips in the manufacture of gifts, housewares, holiday decors, fashion accessories, furniture and furnishing accessories.
