The present invention is a method for detecting and identifying Bonamia ostreae and exitiosa in a single assay polymerase chain reaction. The method comprises isolating the DNA present in a sample of tissue of oyster, performing an assay of polymerase chain reaction on the extracted DNA using a mixture comprising primers specific for B. ostreae and B. exitiosa in the ITS1 and common for both species in the 18S rRNA gene, and detecting the amplified nucleotide sequences primer. Furthermore, the invention also provides a kit for detecting and identifying Bonamia ostreae and exitiosa comprising the aforementioned primers, cloned DNA fragments of the region to be amplified to B. ostreae and B. exitiosa, deoxynucleotide triphosphates, reaction buffer and manual.
