Maintenance device (1) adapted to maintain a determined intervertebral separation consisting of a substantially flat longilinear element (18), of determined main width (I), having a first (18a) and a second (18b) end, suitable to be arranged around the spinous processes, said maintenance device (1) being characterized in that it also comprises: a) a rigid support (2) comprising two lateral parts (3, 4) mounted between a front part (5) and rear (6), said first end (18a) being attached or being suitable for joining said rear part (6) and said second end (18b) being free; b) a locking element (7) slidably mounted on said lateral parts (3, 4) and defining front (8) and rear (9) passageways respectively with the front (5) and rear (6) parts allowing said second free end (18b) to pass to the rear passage zone (9), and then to the front passage zone (8) partially wrapping said blocking element (7), so that the section (18c) of said longilinear element (18) which extends substantially between its first end (18a) and the blocking element (7), forms a given perimeter ring (p) and by which the application of opposite tensions (T1, T2) on the inner walls of the ring causes the movement of said blocking element (7) towards said front part (5) and the blocking of the section (18c) of the longilinear element (18) in the front passage area (8) between said locking element (7) and the front part (5) of the support (2).
