METHOD FOR SIMULATING SANDSTONE FORMATION AND ESTIMATION OF SANDSTONE PROPERTIES (FLOPAC)

The invention is a method for simulating sandstone deposition. The sandstoneis simulated by estimating the grain size distribution and mineral compositionof grains (1) in the sandstone, simulating sedimentation (2) of grains fromthe grain size distribution and mineral composition of the grains, simulatingcompaction (3) of the grains, and simulating cementation (4) of the grains.Properties of the sandstone such as porosity and permeability may be estimatedfrom the simulated sandstone. The method permits multiple mineralogies to besimulated during the burial history of sedimentation, compaction andcementation.
