A control system for a laundry machine provides a systemand method to automatically monitor the results of the drain or pumpop-eration during normal operation of machine cycles, during unattended idlestates as well as through specific diagnostic tests. By automaticallymoni-toring the results of the drain or pump operation, the machine controllercan warn the owner or servicer of the equipment that a machine requiresservice attention.
