The present invention relatesto an absorbent article, such as awound pad, comprising a body (1) ofcompressed thermoplastic or thermo-setopen-celled foam. According to the inventionsaid body (1) has a pattern ofultrasonically 5 made depressions (2,3)in two opposite sides thereof, the depressionsin the opposite sides beingcoaxial to each other and separated fromeach other by a common bottom portion(4) which is compressed to a higher extentthan the remaining parts of saidbody. The invention also relates to amethod of manufacturing such a bodyand to a wound dressing comprisingsuch a body.
