USE OF MINOCYCLINE FOR THERAPEUTIC TREATMENT OF ACUTE SPINAL CORD INJURIES

A dosing regime for providing therapy for a neurological trauma such as spinalcordinjury in a human subject. The dosing regime comprises intravenousadministration of aplurality of minocycline doses for a 7-day period at 12-h intervals such thata steady statelevel of minocycline is reached and maintained in a subject's serum and/orcerebrospinalfluid after adminstration of three minocycline doses. An initial minocyclinedose of at least800 mg is preferably administered within 12 h after an occurrence of theneurological trauma.The minocycline dosage is sequentially tapered to 400 mg and then maintainedat 400 mg forthe remainder of the 7-day treatment period.
