A method for reducing strain in an adhesive layer thatconnects a bearing toa component comprises selecting a shim material having an elastic modulusvalue that is lessthan an elastic modulus value of the component and providing instructions toconnect thecomponent to the shim by placing the adhesive layer between an outer surfaceof thecomponent and an inner surface of the shim.
