Disclosed are a Christmas tree displaying full color patterns and animations, and control method thereof. The Christmas tree comprises a monolithic Christmas tree trunk or a segmented Christmas tree trunk, and at least one large branch or at least one minor branch fixed on or fitted into the Christmas tree trunk, characterized in that: at least one fiber optic bundle, at least one three-color LED wafer light source, and at least one drive module are arranged on the Christmas tree; the end of the fiber optic bundle is adjacent to the three-color LED wafer light source; the drive module is connected to at least one three-color LED wafer light source; one of the drive modules is connected to a controller, and is sequentially connected to the remaining drive modules in series via an input interface and an output interface; the drive module receives and sends display data through serial cascade communication; the controller is used to sequentially generate in real time through program operation the display data of the full color patterns or full color animations for each of the drive modules, and send the display data sequentially to the drive modules.
