The invention relates to ultrasonic impact treatment of components arranged underwater. An ultrasonic vibratory instrument is submerged in water. Movable impact elements of the ultrasonic vibratory instrument are pressed against a surface being treated and said instrument is moved relative to the surface being treated. The impact elements are in contact with an outlet end of an ultrasonic oscillating-speed transformer. Ultrasonic vibrations of the outlet end of the ultrasonic oscillating-speed transformer are excited at an intensity exceeding the threshold at which extensive cavitation arises on said surface and in the area in which the movable impact elements are arranged.
