A METHOD OF INCREASING THE LOADING CAPACITY OF A POROUS CARBON ADSORBENT

Fluid storage/dispensing systems using porous active carbon adsorbent are described. The porous active carbon adsorbent is pretreated before use by contacting with a swelling agent to expand porosity thereof, followed by contacting with a pressurized gaseous penetration agent to effect transport of the swelling agent into the porosity and followed by removal of the swelling agent and penetration agent to enhance the loading capacity of the porous carbon adsorbent.
