The invention relates to phenolic extracts containing procyanidins, propelargonidins and flavonolignans, that have properties/activities that are potentially beneficial for human health, and are obtained from the aerial parts and the inner wood of the plant Uncaria tomentosa L.. The invention also relates to the method for producing said extracts. These extracts are useful for developing food additives, cosmetic compositions and pharmaceutical compositions having an antioxidant, antimicrobial, cytotoxic and antiproliferative activity.
