In an alternative embodiment, the metal layer applied by means of vapor deposition and/or sputtering can be treated directly with the second aqueous system before the lacquer layer is applied. The invention further relates to metal-coated substrates that can be obtained in accordance with the method according to the invention. The invention further relates to the use of the coated substrates according to the invention.
