The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a catalyst for the production of a biodiesel fuel, which is capable of producing a biodiesel fuel with high selectivity and high yield at low cost even in the presence of a moisture content and a free fatty acid; and a method for producing a biodiesel fuel using this catalyst. The present invention enables the production of a biodiesel fuel with high selectivity and high yield by transesterification between a fat or oil and an alcohol by using, as a transesterification catalyst, a titanium-containing mesoporous silica that contains Ti and Si as skeleton constituent elements and has a pore diameter of 5 nm or more.
