The present invention relates to an apparatus for automatically monitoring displacement and a method for monitoring same, comprising: a first anchor and a second anchor both fixed to the outer surface of a measurement target; a sensor portion having one end portion coupled to the fixed first anchor, and provided with a sensor unit therein for detecting internal tension change and calculating the amount of change; a turnbuckle having one end portion coupled to the other end portion of the sensor portion; a wire of which one side is coupled to the other end of the turnbuckle and the other side is coupled to the fixed second anchor; and a measuring portion connected to a signal output terminal of the sensor unit, and thereby measuring a change in size of a gap between an adjacent building or a fracture-connecting access area of a structure due to an unexpected movement of the structure, and having stability of operating and high reliability in extreme environments.
