The hand gesture recognition apparatus (300) is used for controlling an on-board apparatus (200) in a hand gesture recognition mode, and comprises a detecting module (302), a converting module (304), and a transmission module (306). The detecting module (302) is used for detecting a hand gesture in a hand gesture recognition space (102). The converting module (304) is coupled to the detecting module (302), and is used for recognizing a hand gesture and converting the hand gesture into a corresponding executable command of the on-board apparatus (200). The transmission module (306) is coupled to the converting module (304), and is used for transmitting the corresponding executable command to the on-board apparatus (200) to control a vehicle-mounted apparatus. By means of the hand gesture recognition apparatus, the hand gesture recognition method and the related vehicle-mounted apparatus, it can be ensured that the on-board apparatus can be conveniently and flexibly operated and controlled in the case of safe driving.
