The method involves determining (101) two points of cutting of ionosphere by two sight axes between satellites and ground stations. Spatial dispersion of cutting points is determined (103) with respect to point of interest, by finding difference with preset angle and taking average of differences. The error in estimation of time taken to cross ionosphere is determined by addition of first error in estimation of crossing time dependent on variance calculated by interpolation on basis of triangular Interpolation (TRIN) model. The angle formed by a segment located from point of interest to one of cutting points and by a segment located from point of interest to another cutting point is determined (102). The Second error is added in estimation of crossing time dependent on spatial dispersion. An independent claim is included for a system for determining error during estimation of time taken to cross ionosphere.
