The present invention relates to a zinc oxide varistor, especially a vanadium-based zinc oxide (ZnO-V2O5-) chip varistor composition which can be plasticized with a silver internal electrode at the same time. The present invention relates to the vanadium-based zinc oxide varistor and a manufacturing method thereof which is capable of securing the excellent nonlinearity of the varistor and stably maintaining the nonlinearity of the varistor after using for a long time by adding small amount of erbium into the vanadium-based zinc oxide varistor and adjusting the content of the erbium to be less than 0.1 mol%.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2014
