The present invention relates to a promoter of the dammarenediol biosynthetic gene having a sequence of Sequence No. 1, which is a gene involved in the ginseng saponin biosynthesis, and, more specifically, to a sequence of a DDS gene promoter including the 5'-untranslated region of the DDS cDNA(ABI22080) gene, a promoter of dammarenediol biosynthetic gene and a transformation vector including a sequence encoding a target protein operably linked to the promoter. Further, the present invention relates to a transgenic plant in which a vector containing a DDS promoter is introduced into a plant with confirming expression patterns upon time of a DDS promoter in a transgenic mouseear cress and a transgenic ginseng, the influence of hormones and light, and the activity of a DDS promoter to the TMV infection. Accordingly, the promoter is able to be effectively used in developing crops with an increased ginsenoside content, stress-resistant transgenic crops and crops with a reinforced virus resistance, and to be beneficially used in developing transgenic plants for producing medical and industrial proteins.
