The invention relates to a method and to a device for activating an electrical vacuum pump (5) for a brake booster (3) of a vehicle. The brake booster (3) is supplied with a vacuum by a vacuum reservoir (9). The vacuum pump (5) is designed to increase the vacuum in the vacuum reservoir (9) as soon as the vacuum falls below a predefinable switch-on threshold.
