Provided is an earthquake early warning system for railway, which earthquake early warning system judges whether seismic wave expected to arrive before the seismic wave (S-wave) reaches the railway track is hazardous or not and slows down or stoops a running train before the seismic wave reaches by assessing the seismic intensity, the earthquake hazard zone and et cetera as soon as possible. The earthquake early warning system for railway includes: at least one seismograph recording the amplitude and the frequency of a seismic wave propagating along the inside or the surface of the earth in case of an earthquake; a seismic information reception unit for receiving the seismic wave from the seismograph; a seismic information analysis unit for judging information of the size of the generated earthquake, the amplitude of seismic wave expected to arrive, the possibility of hazard and the hazardous track extension by analyzing the P-wave among the seismic waves according to an earthquake automatic detection algorithm before the S-wave reaches; a railway control system for automatically transmitting an earthquake early warning to a running train according to railway alignment information and running train information when the earthquake is judged as a hazardous earthquake; and a train slowing down or stopping by receiving the earthquake early warning transmitted from the railway control system, and the earthquake information system, the earthquake information analysis unit and the railway control system are built inside a railway traffic control center.
