PURPOSE: A power saving method and a power saving type display device are provided to minimize power consumption by controlling the brightness of backlight. CONSTITUTION: A display unit comprises a plurality of pixels. The display unit displays an image according to a control signal provided to each pixel. A touch sensor(20) is arranged in each pixel or each schedule area. The touch sensor detects a touch point of a user. Backlight(30) is arranged in each pixel or each schedule area of the display unit. A backlight operating unit(40) controls the brightness by controlling operating power applied to the backlight. A control unit(50) transmits a control signal in order to control the brightness of the backlight to the backlight operating unit according to the touch point detection of the touch sensor.
