Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract with anti-aging activity and process for preparing the same using supercritical carbon dioxide extraction

A method for preparing the extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum is provided to increase the content of carotenoid having anti-aging effects in the extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum by using supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, so that collagen synthesis and integrin expression of human skin cells are promoted. A method for preparing the extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum comprises the steps of: extracting dried Gynostemma pentaphyllum in an extraction tank by adding supercritical carbon dioxide under conditions of 40-90 deg. C and 300-700 bar; and separating gas phase of carbon dioxide from a mixture of Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract and supercritical carbon dioxide, wherein the Gynostemma pentaphyllum extract contains 0.1 wt.% of carotenoid compound. A cosmetic composition for preventing skin aging comprises the extract of Gynostemma pentaphyllum.
