PURPOSE: A method for measuring physical and chemical stability of steel slag is provided to simply and systemically measure chemical characteristics such as oxide content and physical characteristics such as volume expansibility, unit volume and mass, absolute dry density, and absorption rate. CONSTITUTION: A method for measuring physical and chemical stability of steel slag comprises the steps of: pulverizing steel slag and sieving the steel slag powder in sizes of 0.15-0.3 mm, 0.3-0.6 mm, 0.6-1.2 mm, 1.2-2.5 mm, and 2.5-5 mm; washing and drying the steel slag powder; measuring the absolute dry density and absorption rate of the dried steel slag; measuring the content of calcium oxide (CaO), magnesium oxide (MgO), and iron oxide (FeO) of the dried steel slag; measuring the unit volume and mass of the dried steel slag; collecting 90 g, 150 g, 150 g, 150 g, and 60 g of the dried steel slag powder with sizes of 0.15-0.3 mm, 0.3-0.6 mm, 0.6-1.2 mm, 1.2-2.5 mm, and 2.5-5 mm, respectively; mixing the dried steel slag powder; mixing the steel slag powder mixture and common portland cement in a weight ratio of 2:1 and preparing and curing a mortar bar; and measuring relative dynamic modulus of elasticity and length variation of the mortar bar.
