The present invention provides a method for detecting a rotor position of a permanent magnet synchronous motor capable of calculating speed and the position of a rotor by comprising a separate controller in order that the error of rotor position information is zero with a method for obtaining rotor speed and position information using a hole sensor and a rotor position presumption method using a PLL integrator. The method for detecting the rotor position of the permanent magnet synchronous motor comprises a first step for calculating an average speed (_e) based on a hole sensor signal (_hall); a second step for calculating a rotor position (_r) by interpolating the average speed; a third step for calculating the error for the rotor position by comparing the rotor position calculated by the output of a PLL integrator with the rotor position calculated by the second step; a fourth step for modifying the error to be zero and calculating the speed; and a fifth step for calculating the rotor position by integrating the speed calculated in the fourth step.
