The present invention relates to a novel compound, and more specifically, to a novel compound isolated from Petasites japonicus and an isolation method thereof. The novel compound of the present invention is a useful natural material isolated from Petasites japonicus. When the novel compound is isolated from Petasites japonicus using the isolation method of the present invention, high purity isolation obtaining a material with a purity of 98% or greater is possible and accordingly high productivity is secured, thereby being expected to have the possibility of industrial utilization.
