The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for converting a mode of an energy storage device and, more specifically, to a method and an apparatus for determining an operation mode of an energy storage device based on the power relationship between a battery, new renewable energy, and a system according to a battery charge or discharge control signal received from an energy management system and transmitting the determined operation mode to the energy management system. According to the present invention, the operation mode of the energy storage device can be automatically determined since the battery is charged or discharged according to the battery charge and discharge control signals and thus the power relationship between the battery, the new renewable energy, and the system in a power contact terminal (DC-link) is controlled to be ′zero′. Also, the objective of the present invention is to provide an apparatus and a method for converting a mode of a new renewable energy grid-connected energy storage device which can remove a relay switch for controlling input and output directions of each link and thus can operate conversion of the input and output directions at high speed by automatically determining an operation mode of an energy storage device only according to battery charge and discharge control signals.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2014
