The present invention relates to an anti-obesity composition derived from gulfweeds. More specifically, provided is an anti-obesity pharmaceutical composition or a health functional food containing an extract of Sargassum fulvellum or Sargassum horneri or a fraction of the same as an active ingredient. The extract or the fraction separated from gulfweeds of the present invention is a safe material which has excellent effects in inhibiting fat cell differentiation, fat generation, and fat accumulation and is not cellulotoxic so as to be usefully as an active ingredient of a pharmaceutical composition or a health functional food for decreasing body fat and treating obesity.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2014
