The present invention relates to a rear side alarm system using a navigation terminal in which path information received from the navigation terminal on a road is used so that an existing rear side alarm condition can be changed in real time and an alarm necessary for a driver and an alarm unnecessary for the driver can be controlled according to a traveling situation, and to an alarm control method for the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, provided is the rear side alarm system which generates an alarm when a distance or a position between a vehicle and a target satisfies a previously set rear side alarm condition. The rear side alarm system includes the navigation terminal which provides the path information selected based on a starting point and destination information of the vehicle; and a yaw rate measurement unit which measures a yaw rate of the vehicle. The rear side alarm system further includes an electronic control unit which uses the path information provided by the navigation terminal and the yaw rate measured by the yaw rate measurement unit so as to perform the control for an alarm or non-alarm operation according to whether the previously set situation-specific alarm condition is satisfied.
