The present invention relates to a methacrylate copolymer, a method for preparing the same, and a resin composition using the same, wherein the methacrylate copolymer provides a surface hardness and an external appearance by using methyl methacrylate as a main ingredient, excellent processability to a large-area injection molded product by using styrene, and heat resistance and an additional increase in the product surface hardness by using alpha methyl styrene; and wherein the resin composition supplements impact resistance of a molded product by adding an impact modifier having the same refractive index as the prepared copolymer, thereby replacing tempered glass in an external housing of electrical and electronic products, such as a refrigerator, an air conditioner, and a washing machine.
