The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a carbon-catalyst composite and applications thereof. The manufacturing method comprises the steps of: melting dopamine in a buffer solution; coating polydopamine on the surface of carbon by a reaction adding carbon in the buffer solution melted with dopamine; preparing a coating solution melted with oxides which will be sources for the catalyst; having a reaction by adding the polydopamine-coated carbon in the coating solution; and thermal processing the outcome. By providing the carbon-catalyst composite manufactured thereby and the lithium-air secondary battery using the carbon-catalyst composite as an air electrode, the original characteristics of carbon can be expressed enough, environment pollution can be prevented, and the air electrode efficiency of the secondary battery can be maximized.
