The present invention relates to an automobile enabling safe parking at the shoulder of a road and a control method thereof, wherein the automobile includes: a chassis which includes a body and outside mirrors which are installed on the sides of the body and have a mirror and a frame on which the mirror is mounted; a sensor unit which is installed on the rear of the body and senses a vehicle approaching the rear of a user's vehicle; an illumination unit which is installed on the frame of the outside mirror and irradiates the mirror of the outside mirror with light to shed the reflected light to the lower part of the outside mirror; and a control unit which controls the operation of the illumination unit based on the sensing results of the sensor unit.
