PURPOSE: Xylanase produced by recombinant Pichia pastoris is provided to largely reduce the amount of chemicals needed for bleaching craft pulp, thereby being used as an eco-friendly bleaching agent. CONSTITUTION: A medium composition for recombinant Pichia pastoris strains for producing xylanase contains 7.56-15.22 g/L of wheat bran, 0.13-1.46 g/L of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH_2PO_4), and 0.02-0.25 g/L of potassium hydrogen sulfate (KHSO_4). A method for producing xylanase comprises the step of: putting the recombinant Pichia pastoris strains in the medium composition; and culturing the recombinant Pichia pastoris strains. The recombinant Pichia pastoris strains are cultured at 24-27C, a pH concentration of 5.5-6.5, a stirring rate of 160-180 rpm, and an air flow rate of 0.5-1.5 vvm under the presence of 0.5-1.25% methanol.
