The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for automatically winding a foil on a candle wherein the foil is automatically wound on the lower periphery of the candle, thus efficiently producing the candles in large quantities and sanitarily winding the foil on the candle, because any manual work is not required. According to the present invention, the foil fed by a foil feeding part is cut by cutting means and mounted on a lower tray. And then, the foil is moved under a twist bar, and in the state where the twist bar descends to allow the end portion of the foil to be wound on the periphery of the candle, the twist bar is moved to wind the foil on the lower end periphery of the candle. Like this, the candle rolls on the foil in such a manner as to wind the foil thereon and is then dropped, and this operation is repeatedly carried out, thus conducting the foil winding operation at a rapid speed and improving the productivity thereof. Further, labor costs can be reduced, and since no manual operation exists, the foil can be sanitarily wound on the candle.
