The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for automatically winding a foil on a candle wherein the foil is automatically wound on the lower periphery of the candle, thus efficiently producing the candles in large quantities, and more particularly, to an apparatus and method for automatically winding a foil on a candle wherein the foil can come into close contact with the lower periphery of the candle in such a manner as to be rigidly wound thereon and even the foil having a relatively thin thickness can be gently fed. According to the present invention, the foil comes spirally into close contact with the periphery of the candle and is wound thereon, thus preventing the deviation from the lower periphery of the candle, and even if the foil fed has a low thickness, ribs are formed to prevent the foil from being deformed in the process of reaching a lower tray for winding, thus conducting the winding operation stably.
