The present invention relates to a method for analyzing the type of Staphylococcal cassette chromosomal mec (SCCmec). Since a patient is diagnosed as SCCmec IV type if the specimen which is obtained from the patient dose not have three or more genes selected from the group consisting of map/eap gene, sec gene, tst gene, hib gene, and sel gene, the therapeutic response and prognosis in the patient are determinable.
