The present invention relates to a graphite nanofiber and a production method thereof. The production method of the graphite nanofiber comprises the steps of: mixing a carbon fiber precursor material and a solvent to obtain a mixed solution; adding a metal precursor and homogenizing the mixed solution; adding silicon oxide and homogenizing the mixed solution; producing fibers by electrospinning the homogenized mixed solution; and thermally treating the produced fibers. The graphite nanofiber produced by the method has a structure where graphite sheets are vertically arranged with respect to the nanofiber axis, and contains graphene, catalyst metal particles, and silicon compounds to be used for an electrode material of a solar cell or a secondary battery.
