The present invention provides a chrysanthemum indicum leaf extract for inhibiting protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) and a composition including the same for preventing or treating metabolic diseases. According to the present invention, the chrysanthemum indicum leaf extract has PTP1B inhibitor activities and the composition including the chrysanthemum indicum leaf extract has excellent effects in preventing adipopexia, reducing blood sugar, and preventing and treating diabetes so as to be useful as an agent for preventing or treating metabolic diseases. Moreover, the composition according to the present invention is appropriate for oral administration so as to have high bio-availability when being used as an agent for preventing and treating metabolic diseases through PTP1B inhibiting functions, and is made from a natural material so that side effects including toxicity can be reduced compared to PTP1B inhibitor compounds which are produced through synthesis.
