The present invention relates to a cathode active material for a non-aqueous lithium secondary battery surface-treated with solid superacid and a method for producing same. The method for producing a cathode active material for a non-aqueous lithium secondary battery surface-treated with solid superacid according to the present invention includes a preparation step for preparing a lithium transition metal oxide containing at least one transition metal among nickel (Ni), manganese (Mn), and cobalt (Co); and a coating step for forming a coating layer with solid superacid on a surface of the lithium transition metal oxide. The lithium secondary battery using the cathode active material that is produced by the production method of the present invention has improved electrochemical characteristics at a high voltage and at a high temperature, improved safety, and improved chemical resistance in an electrolyte.
