FIELD: agriculture.;SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular, to breeding of poultry. The method provides evaluation and selection of the poultry by live weight at 35 days of age, at that an individual length of a day old chick is additionally determined and in accordance with the dimensions of length the whole herd is divided into three groups "long", "medium" and "short", the percentage of rejection roosters is set with small length of 5%, 8, 10, 15, 17%. Then an individual live weight of roosters is determined at 35 days of age and the live weight difference in absolute value expressed as a percentage of the scheme: "L-S", "L-M" and "M-S". Then 8% and less roosters are rejected, which have difference in live weight of 9% and more.;EFFECT: method enables to increase the live weight of roosters at the age of basic valuation.;1 tbl, 1 ex
