A lever escapement for a timepiece comprising: - two escape wheels (2, 3) intended to be connected kinematically to the same finishing train, and arranged so as not to directly engage one with each other, - an anchor (4) having two vanes (22, 24) cooperating respectively with the escapement wheels (2, 3). According to the invention, the exhaust system further comprises a return kinematically connecting the escapement wheels (2, 3) and arranged so that said escapement wheels (2, 3) rotate in opposite directions. Furthermore, the vanes (22, 24) are arranged to work with their escapement wheels (2, 3) respectively alternately.
