The device (10) has a flexible hose (20) folded up in an inoperative position or forms a rescue channel in an operative position. The rescue channel leads from one floor of a building (12) to a bottom surface, where the braking units are provided by the rescue channel for the safe conveyance of the persons. The hose is made from a collapsible flexible hose wall (21) and a spring arrangement (25) integrated in the flexible hose wall. The spring arrangement has a spiral spring (26) that is fixed over the length of the hose wall and causes the tensioning of the hose wall in radial direction.
