The protector has a wood supporting fabric provided from an open-celled, naturally grown structure of fruits of cucurbits of a type luffa aegyptica or luffa cylindrica. Webs (18) and open cells (17) of the structure are not provided with an apparent order. The fabric is formed as a cylindrical mold part which is opened at an end. The mold part encloses a microphone capsule as a component of a housing. The mold part is placed between a sound source and a microphone by a mechanical holding structure. The fabric is dyed, and treated with fungicides or bactericides against fungal attack or rot. The cylindrical mold part is a disk.
