The method involves scrolling an impermeable plastic band (34) with a lower face (36) turned upward successively in front of a printing station (40) in which the band receives a decorative ink on the face and in front of an assembly station (48) in which the plastic band receives an electronic unit (8) for developing information on the lower face. Another impermeable plastic band is joined and welded with the former impermeable plastic band, and portable electronic devices are released by cutting.
