Array substrate for a fringe-field switching mode liquid crystal display device, comprising:a plurality of gate lines (205) on a substrate (201);a gate insulation film on the plurality of gate lines (205);a plurality of data lines (230) on the gate insulation film and the plurality of gate lines (205), so as to intersect the result that a plurality of pixel regions (p) are defined;a thin-film transistor (tr) connected to one of the gate lines (205) and one of the data lines (230) is electrically connected, in each pixel area (p);a pixel electrode (255) having a flat form in each pixel area (p), wherein the pixel electrode (255) with a portion of said thin film transistor (tr) is connected;a first passivation layer on the pixel electrode (255) and via the thin-film transistor (tr); anda common electrode (270) on the first passivation layer, with the pixel regions (p) and the corresponding sub-areas with a plurality of strip-shaped openings (op1, op2) within the the pixel regions (p) corresponding subregions, wherein each of the openings (op1, op2) along a main axis of the data line (230) and a secondary axis along the gate line (205), wherein a middle portion of each opening (op1, op2) overlaps the pixel electrode (255) and wherein along the minor axis to one end of an outermost opening (op1) of the plurality of openings (op1, op2) of a partial area over the pixel electrode (255) projects.
