The device has a narrowing mechanism/closing mechanism that is provided in a lower main opening of a cover (1). The mechanism is allowed to reduce or close the opening. A deployable annular or hollow-cylindrical expandable chamber or secondary chamber (8) is provided with an expandable hydraulic pressure liquid. A high pressure line and a high pressure generator are coupled to the narrowing mechanism/closing mechanism. A set of eyelets or other holding devices is arranged over the cover utilized for an oil bore. An independent claim is also included for a method for sealing an oil well.
