The edge protection unit comprises a rod (3), which slides while opening a car door and passes through a hollow space (4) of the door. A protection strip (2) extends to the door and is insusceptible to shock. The rod moves with respect to the door, when the door is opened. The door hinge axis (1) is movably mounted, and behaves as a moving parallelogram. A flap retracts necessarily, when the door is closed.
