The linear unit (1) has a housing (2) comprising one or multiple fastening grooves (3). An attaching device fastens a guide rail (8) at the housing in a form-fit manner. Recesses (12) are formed at the housing for the attaching device. The attaching device comprises attaching elements (6) i.e. slotted nuts, which are formed to engage with the fastening grooves. The attaching elements are defined at a common carrier strip (22), which is formed for retracting or inserting the attachment elements into the fastening grooves. The carrier strip is made of pliable, thrust and/or tension-stable material. The housing is formed as an aluminum extruded section. An independent claim is also included for a method for mounting a guide rail at a housing of a linear unit.
