The device has a burner (32) producing heat under formation of flue gas stream by conversion of fuel. The burner is arranged in a radiation zone (31), where the device conveys flue gas stream in a gas flow direction (41) from the radiation zone to a convection zone (11). A catalytic converter (12) is arranged within the convection zone. Two sets of heat exchangers (16, 17) are arranged within the convection zone. The converter is arranged between the heat exchangers. A flue gas supply is returned in the gas flow direction upstream of a flue gas dissipation line into the convection zone. An independent claim is also included for a method for removing nitrogen oxide from flue gas.
